UIW Receives Major Grant from the Hector and Gloria López Foundation

March 26, 2024

March 26, 2024 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce today that the Hector and Gloria López Foundation (HGLF) has awarded the university a generous grant of $2,477,933. The grant is part of the López Foundation’s larger gift of $7.2 million made to three universities in San Antonio including UIW, St. Mary’s University and Our Lady of the Lake University. The Hector and Gloria López Foundation was founded to honor the legacy of Hector and Gloria López, married business partners and prominent community figures from South Texas who viewed their higher educational opportunities as the basis for their economic prosperity.

100% of Eligible Students Match at UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine 2024 Match Day

March 22, 2024

On March 15, the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) hosted its annual Match Day celebration, welcoming family and loved ones to support their soon-to-be doctors as they learned where they matched for residency. The school hosted its first Match Day in 2021 with 96% of students matching, followed by 2022 and 2023 with 99% of students matching both years. This year, 100% of the 139 eligible UIWSOM students matched into 16 different healthcare specialties.

UIW Welcomes U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Visit

March 22, 2024

UIW had the honor of welcoming Ruth Ryder, U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, to the School of Rehabilitation Sciences on Thursday, March 14. Ryder traveled from Washington D.C. to meet with UIW and Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) students who eagerly shared the work they had accomplished as the result of a $5.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the Mental Health Service Professionals Demonstration Program that the two local institutions received last year.
